These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Coffee meets Alcohol mobile application and website at coffeemeetsalcohol.com (together, the “Service”), operated by Coffee meets Alcohol (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By creating an account, downloading, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
The Service is intended for adults who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. It helps you record personal coffee and alcoholic beverage tastings. You must be at least 18 years old (or the minimum legal age in your region, if higher) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
2. The Service
Coffee meets Alcohol lets you:
- Scan product labels and extract details using AI assistance.
- Save tasting notes, brew records, ratings, and photos.
- Explore product origins on a map.
- Optionally subscribe to premium features through in-app purchase.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use unless we agree otherwise in writing.
3. Accounts
You may sign in with Apple or Google through our authentication provider. You are responsible for maintaining access to your sign-in account and for all activity under your Coffee meets Alcohol account. Provide accurate profile information and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access.
You may delete your account from Settings in the app. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, records, and associated stored photos, subject to reasonable backup and legal retention requirements described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Subscriptions and payments
Some features require a paid subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat. Prices, billing periods, and renewal terms are shown before you confirm a purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period through your Apple or Google account settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we do not control store refund decisions.
- You may restore previous purchases on a new device using the restore option in the app, subject to store and RevenueCat rules.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of photos, notes, and other content you submit (“User Content”). You grant us a limited licence to host, store, process, and display User Content solely to operate and improve the Service — for example, to sync your records, run label scanning, and generate share cards you request.
You agree not to submit content that:
- Violates any law or third-party rights.
- Contains malware or attempts to disrupt the Service.
- Includes sensitive personal data unrelated to product labels.
- Is fraudulent, misleading, or abusive.
6. AI and third-party services
Label scanning and enrichment may use automated systems, including Google Gemini and web search, to interpret images and text you submit. AI output may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing extracted information before relying on it.
The Service integrates third-party providers including Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, and mapping/geocoding services. Your use of those features is also subject to their terms and policies, as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service except as permitted by law.
- Use the Service to promote illegal activity or underage drinking.
- Impersonate others or create accounts for anyone without permission.
- Circumvent subscription, scan limits, or security measures.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or other users.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, branding, software, and documentation, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks except as needed to identify the app in ordinary use.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not provide medical, health, or drinking advice. Tasting notes, alcohol information, and AI-generated details are for personal reference only. Always drink responsibly and follow applicable laws. Product information may be wrong or out of date — verify labels and allergens yourself before consumption.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the effective date above when we do. Material changes may also be notified in the app or on this website. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in Hong Kong SAR have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Service, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.
